Summertime Breeze
03:04
|
|||
I thought you were the one
happy sunshine and love
all that stuff we’ve been told
since we were kids, two and one
we had fun, we had love
we were dreaming in sync
one to the other we beat
hearts together and seen
I mean we had so much there
or was it the thrill?
a love exploding
like flowers in sun
fireworks in the summertime
time stretching to get it all
All it takes is a word
to send me high like a bird
or low like a stone
sunk into the ocean deep
what we had were our words
honey dew, chamomile
soothe our minds and our hands
hold us close in our beds
to all our poems, spring!
our hearts both did a thing
we heard love’s song
now that’s gone
and now I’m here in the dark
feeling blue and apart
catching our memories
like wind in the hand
but not to re-live life
to find it again

Brown-Winged Bird
01:49
|
|||
A Dirty muddied brown winged bird
perched upon a branch
a dirty muddied melody comes
for the songbird’s match
a grassy molding earthy tone
reaching for on high
but only catching melodies
as clouds, drifting by
as it opens up its jolly wings
to take flight once again
it finds its arms have disappeared
and its feet are fastened deep
it struggles from this earthy pit
this prison of itself
but yelling out to call its friends
its voice makes not a sound
at once it thinks its given up
and resigns to this beige tourniquet
it tries to find a comfy spot
God willing that it may
but all to con-o-trary thoughts
this bird can still have hope
For what, I am not so sure
that’s why this song I wrote

Might Be
04:31
|
|||
An ache in my bones
enough time to be alone
my feet have drawstrings
always cinched tight
a blanket around my shoulders
a cloak for old soldiers
or maybe a cocoon
to hold me past midnight
The chilled grass tickle my feet
tease out the hits and the falls
with their wintry tendrils
make these abused feel all right
the cover doesn't quite reach my toes
and I'm already compacted and cold
but I'll try to stay warm later
now is the time to strain my sight
I might be this, I might be that
I've try to decide what I can
who knows what I'll decide tomorrow?
or if I'll decide to fight
The pit in my stomach
the hole where the love goes
has always yawned wider
when I find a light
There's space to my left
space to my right
if I could share a moment with another
if I had the guts to say help
I would be all right
if I had the guts to say help
I would be all right
Held by the clouds,
strapped to this earth
always felt a little bit penned in
and somehow I'll find my wings

Monochrome
04:33
|
|||
Do we have to sit on our hands
while the old world falls around us?
Do we have to lower our gaze
as our friends are becoming strangers?
Why don't we sing a stronger song?
Why don't we fight 'till the battle's won?
Stuck inside a brave new world, a dream
becoming unable to face reality
in find some release I'd love
I've locked myself in jail, a hell my own
A child we're seen by those suspended by
beliefs and convictions from long ago
for what reason are we blinded, then?
released to die, never loved again?
Why don't we sing a stronger song?
Why don't we fight 'till the battle's won?
A child is no more incapable of being twisted than a mighty oak
we've somehow got lost raising them
blaming others for the bent saplings they've become
I'd rather live in a world
where we can love and live together
Why don't we sing a stronger song?
Why don't we fight 'till the battle's won?
Do we have to sit on our hands
while the old world falls around us?
Do we have lower our gaze
as our friends are becoming strangers?

Oceans
03:32
|
|||
The wall where the oceans meet
The wall as long as the eyes can see
A thousand miles in either direction
to stifle the lovers’ obsession
Oh, if we could only meet, if for a day or three
all I know is the pain of being separate from me
To the left, an expanse of the bluest complexion
To the right, a field of exuberant convection
A cobble wall of the surest construction
Guards leviathans, the perfect obstruction
Oh, if we could only see our fates for wanting to be free
to see the world through each others’ eyes, to live happily
Two souls, through love, became as one
without the either, neither could run
like clay in the hands of well-meant intention
they were separate in time to serve as a lesson
Oh, the curse of separation can only be explained as fire
your love has sustained me, so for hell I will not tire
The gods decreed that they are as equals
but living as one, they fell under no weak rule
They were separate, from body, from mind
banished to the corners, until the end of time
Oh, how lovely your cries from far ‘cross this ocean blue
if only I’d be free from this life, and I could finally be with you
How love is a gift we are still deciding
The meaning of life we still stand to finding
What lesson’s to be learned from this sorrowful tale
whether to love completely, and be damned to hell
Oh, the wall twixt the oceans blue separates me from you
but all that keeps us going is to love through and through

A Simple Note
04:46
|
|||
Sunrise on an open sea
bracing Pacific breeze
The sand is cold but friends are close
this coast is the most snug post
(chorus)
Still so much we've got to see
once we are finally free
Time, time may take us by
but we will never say goodbye
Open sky, Open mind
head to the stars, see what we'll find
Deepest blue, black velvet
a galaxy's cradle, a silent minaret
(chorus)
Whoa, don't say goodbye
Whoa, don't say goodbye
Soulless clouds cover the sky
rain so much we could die
Winds agust, storm afoot
what a perfect time to read a book
A thousand times, yes of course!
Like wings on a bird, we could soar
Hand in hand, to explore the land
as far as our little legs can
(chorus)
The world is an open book
filled with liars, filled with crooks
but always, to their dismay
resolute souls find a way
How can it be the society that we see
that those with good hearts are brought to their knees
Not today, but tomorrow you'll see
all this life can crack up to be
Whoa, don't say goodbye
Whoa, don't say goodbye
Whoa, don't say goodbye
Whoa, don't say goodbye
I know it's there, that shred of hope
Keep it safe with this simple note
Mmmm...
Whoa, safe as can be

Tenebrous Blue
05:07
|
|||
An empty boat moves with the wind
a separate leaf soon leaves its kin
the still pond reflects the light
of the world’s most wondrous sights
Midnight sky, the sea, a chilling breeze
a fire, a log, a place for thought
Where will I steer? With whom will I go?
Across the ocean blue to just God knows
(chorus)
Don’t stop your dreaming
for it is almost here
Don’t stop your struggling
for it is almost here
How short our time, while we survive
on thoughts we’ve shared while we’re alive
A bond we’ve made, from distant shores
of ‘who are you’ to ‘yes of course’
(chorus)
The storm of storms has engulfed the world
as the King of Kings has so foretold
the sand will shift, and winds will blind
the end will come, and we’ll be fine
The hurricane visits rich and poor
razing the land, ‘till it leaves no more
and in the end life must go on
the new begins and old is gone
(chorus)
In stillness our feelings come
likes waves of the sea to break us down
what once did crash must soon lose shape;
the sadness is not our fate
(chorus)

Tomorrow
04:12
|
|||
Oh, oh, oh,
to be free, to be free,
only tomorrow waits for me.
A hundred nights,
a thousand days,
only tomorrow waits for me.
To leap, To jump
to soar anew
but only tomorrow waits for me.
The blackened morning,
to wake my soul
only the sorrow waits for me.
An act undone
a thing abandoned
only tonight waits for me.
The words held back
the love not shared
only the night waits for me.
Time that’s spent
on goodsome dreams
only tonight waits for me.
The world cast grey
a smooth chilling sheen
only the night waits for me.
A boat on the dock
held back- - “Not yet”
“only tomorrow waits for thee.”
The moonrise on far
white eye of God
only the journey waits for thee.
A face in the mirror
so full of naught
so close to the future
a future so fraught
that someone like me will willingly flee- -
that tomorrow that waits for me.
